This well designed study compared Ketamine to Midazolam ( strong sedative that can mimic side effects of Ketamine ) in patients with PTSD. Two thirds of participants reported rapid robust response defined as 30% improvement. While preliminary due to a small size , it is promising and consistent with the observations at our practice noticing significant benefit for clients with PTSD. Study authors also highlight that despite FDA approval of several antidepressants for PTSD , they have limited clinical utility and frequent side effects leading to discontinuation.
